This Is My Letter to the World
Assignment: Create a PowerPoint or Prezi that shows your view of the world. It should be at least six slides. Use a metaphor to describe your view of the world (world as staircase, as a game, as an adventure) and find graphics and quotations that support your view. Include a slide that says "I chose these pictures because... The quotations I chose are significant because..." You have two hours in class to do this. If you do not finish, it is homework. We will show the presentations to the class on Thursday.
Civil Disobedience Essay
Assignment: Write a 1,500 word essay on a single act of civil disobedience, either historical or contemporary. Use three sources. Note this is a single act, not a movement.

College Research Project
Today you will choose at random a college to research. I have left out the ones that everyone knows about already: USC, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, etc. The colleges you will research are all in California and are a mix of public and private.
Your research will be presented in a PowerPoint, or if you wish, a Prezi. There should be six slides (or transitions on Prezi). They are:
1. Title page
2. Brief history
3. Tuition, acceptance rate, and housing
4. Athletic awards
5. Notable alumni
6. Fun facts
See the example on Cal State Dominguez Hills in the box, below right.
Due date: Monday, May 19. Be prepared to present to the class.
